Damas Jewellery has partnered with Arabian Automobiles, the flagship company of the AW Rostamani Group and the authorised Infiniti distributor for Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, to unveil a special 54th UAE National Day Edition of the Infiniti QX80. The standout feature of this exclusive release is a custom-designed dashboard ornament crafted in 9-karat white gold and set with 38 lab-grown diamonds, merging fine jewellery artistry with premium automotive design. Only seven vehicles will be produced, each paying homage to the nation’s identity and forward-looking spirit.

The limited edition was introduced at a ceremony hosted by Hussam Baghdadi, COO of AWR Automotive, together with Ananthanarayanan Hariharan, CEO of Damas Jewellery, and Rajnish Damodaran, Director – Retail, Product & Marketing, Damas Jewellery. The centrepiece takes inspiration from the seven constellations visible on 2 December 1971, the night the UAE was founded, symbolising clarity, resilience, and aspiration.

Hussam Baghdadi remarked that such an ambitious collaboration could only happen in the UAE, adding that the theme of “infinite possibilities” has guided Infiniti’s vision in 2025—from reopening the world’s largest Infiniti showroom, where constellations shaped the visitor experience, to a desert adventure that encouraged audiences to look upward and imagine boldly. The partnership with Damas, he said, represents the next chapter in that journey.

Rajnish Damodaran expressed that the project holds deep significance for Damas, a homegrown brand that has evolved alongside the UAE’s growth. Working with Infiniti, represented regionally by Arabian Automobiles Company, allowed Damas to blend its heritage of jewellery craftsmanship with luxury automotive design, creating a piece that reflects the nation’s creativity and enduring values.

The unveiling also showcased The Orphic’s Winter Collection and a curated tea experience by Janat Tea, infusing the evening with cultural richness.
The limited-edition QX80 will remain on display at the Infiniti showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road throughout December 2025.

Higher output from Canada’s Diavik Diamond Mine offsets revenue decline, but end-of-life pressures continue to weigh on performance.

Rio Tinto reported a challenging year for its diamond business in 2025, posting an underlying EBITDA loss of $79 million despite improved revenues. While the loss narrowed compared to the $115 million deficit recorded in 2024, the division remained under pressure amid a global diamond market slowdown and the nearing closure of its last active mine.

Annual revenue rose 19% to $332 million, supported by stronger production at the Diavik mine in Canada, Rio Tinto’s only remaining diamond operation. Output climbed 61% to 4.4 million carats, driven by the ramp-up of mining activities in the underground section of the A21 deposit, which began scaling up in late 2024.

However, the A21 underground ore body is expected to be depleted by the end of the first quarter of 2026, marking the end of Diavik’s operational life. The company plans to spend approximately $1 billion this year on closure activities related to Diavik, as well as rehabilitation work at the former Argyle Diamond Mine, which ceased production in 2020, and other non-diamond projects.
