BVC successfully executes first international hand carry shipment from Mumbai
BVC, India’s trusted name in secure logistics for the gems and jewellery industry, has successfully executed its first international Hand Carry shipment for jewellery from Mumbai, marking a significant advancement in the movement of high-value cargo.
This milestone follows the recently formalised procedure allowing the import and export of gems and jewellery through personal carriage via the Precious Cargo Customs Clearance Centre (PCCCC), BKC, Mumbai, effective May 1st, 2025. BVC pioneered this logistics breakthrough by being the first to implement the hand-carry model under the new framework, showcasing agility, preparedness, and a strong commitment to client-centric solutions.
The hand-carry model offers an unmatched combination of speed and security, making it ideal for urgent international deliveries, exhibitions, and high-value transactions.

Kirit A. Bhansali, Chairman, GJPEC is a well-known personality in the Indian diamond and jewellery industry. He is a partner in Smital Gems, a leading diamond manufacturing company based in Mumbai. With his extensive experience in the field, he has played a significant role in promoting and developing the Indian gem and jewellery industry. He is a Committee Member of the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB).
In the past, he has also served as the Chairman of the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ). Apart from his business activities, Bhansali is actively involved in various socio-political and educational initiatives. Through his leadership and vision, Bhansali has contributed significantly to the growth and development of the Indian diamond and jewellery industry.
