GJEPC Participates in High-Level Paris Roundtable on Kimberley Process Relevance
A closed-door outreach session in Paris brought senior Kimberley Process (KP) leadership into direct dialogue with leading luxury jewellery maisons, positioning the certification system at the centre of brand risk, sourcing integrity and consumer trust.
Hosted by UFBJOP, the invitation-only discussion, held under Chatham House Rule, clarified how the KP works, why it remains central to the natural diamond value chain, and how it supports brand credibility in a market shaped by rising transparency expectations.
The panel featured Feriel Zerouki, President, World Diamond Council (WDC); Stéphane Fischler, former President, WDC; Anoop Mehta, Convenor – Diamond Panel, GJEPC; Ahmed Bin Sulayem, CEO, DMCC & former KP Chair; and Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC & Deputy Advisor to KP Chair, who shared perspectives spanning industry, governance and trade.
The discussion opened with an overview of the KP’s origins and mechanics, followed by India’s 2026 Chairmanship priorities built around the “3Cs” – Credibility, Compliance and Confidence. The framework focuses on strengthening certification integrity, addressing financial risks like crypto-linked transactions, and improving consumer-facing communication.

CIBJO Reopens Consultation On Blue List, Seek Wider Industry Feedback On Standardized Terminology
Goal Is To Produce A Lexicon Of Terms That Can Be Practically Applied and Comprehended Worldwide
CIBJO has launched a second round of public consultation on its “Blue List” lexicon, seeking wider industry feedback on standardised terminology for responsible jewellery supply chains. The goal is to produce a lexicon of terms that can be practically applied and comprehended worldwide, and to do that in the most transparent and inclusive way possible.
The document, called The Responsible Jewellery Supply Chain Lexicon, aims to create a common language for sustainability in the jewellery industry. It focuses on making sure all terms are clear, accurate, and backed by facts, so both industry professionals and consumers can understand them easily.
After the first review phase from May to September 2025—which brought in many suggestions and improvements—the updated version is now open for another round of feedback. While most of the earlier content was well received, some areas needed further refinement.
This consultation will continue until 12 June 2026, bringing together industry stakeholders and external experts to reach a strong consensus before the final version is officially adopted.
