Royal Chain: Creating jewellery that feels contemporary yet timeless, distinctive enough to be remembered

Published

Shagun Jain, Creative Head, Royal Chain Limited, blends contemporary design with timeless appeal. Her philosophy centres on clean, distinctive aesthetics that are memorable yet wearable and commercially relevant. Speaking to JewelBuzz, she says her inspiration is shaped by evolving markets and lifestyles, with a focus on creating jewellery that feels individual, versatile and effortless across occasions.

How would you describe the design philosophy that guides your work for Royal Chain?

Our design philosophy is rooted in creating jewellery that feels contemporary yet timeless. We focus on clean aesthetics that are distinctive enough to be remembered, while remaining wearable and commercially relevant.

When creating a new collection, where do you draw inspiration from?

Our inspiration is strongly influenced by the market and the changing lifestyle of today’s jewellery consumer. We look at current trends, customer preferences, global influences and the way people are styling jewellery in their everyday lives.

What are your favorite metals and stones to work with, and why?

Gold continues to be a key metal for us because of its timeless appeal, value and versatility.

While coloured stones allow us to respond to the growing demand for colour. Our choice of materials is guided by both design possibilities and what we see resonating in the market.

How do you balance fast-moving design trends with creating pieces that hold a distinctive, lasting identity?

Our Royal Tennis Signature collection is a strong example of this balance. It reflects a current and highly sought-after trend, while offering exceptional value for money and enduring appeal. When a collection delivers on design, wearability, quality and value, it naturally develops a distinctive identity and lasting relevance. That is why the Royal Tennis Signature continues to resonate so strongly with today’s customers.

Jewelry is increasingly about self-expression rather than just occasion wear. How has this shift influenced your approach to design and functionality?

This shift has made versatility and wearability more important than ever. Customers are looking for jewellery that can be worn regularly, layered, mixed and matched, and used to express their personal style. As a result, we focus on creating lightweight and adaptable pieces that suit everyday wear and special occasions. This approach led to the Royal Tennis signature: a versatile, stackable and durable design that is comfortable for daily wear.

What are the biggest challenges in transforming an idea into a commercially successful design, and how do you balance creativity with commercial realities?

A design can look beautiful, but the real challenge is ensuring that it is comfortable, durable and practical enough to wear for long periods. Bringing all of these elements together while maintaining a strong visual impact is what makes the design process so demanding. We try to overcome this challenge by focusing on how a piece feels in everyday use, not just how it looks.

This thinking was central to the concept behind the Royal Tennis signature. We wanted to create a bracelet that could be worn comfortably throughout the day—something the wearer could hold onto and barely feel, while still making a statement.

Looking ahead, what do you believe will define the next wave of jewelry design, and what can we expect from Royal Chain?

The next wave of jewellery design will be shaped by accessible luxury and pieces that fit naturally into everyday life. Customers will continue to look for jewellery that feels individual but remains easy to wear and relevant across occasions. Our focus will remain on creating jewellery that is wearable, stackable, durable and lightweight, offering customers designs that move effortlessly from everyday wear to special occasions.

Designing for Today, Creating for Tomorrow

For Shagun Jain, the future of jewellery lies in finding the sweet spot between design, functionality and lasting appeal. Her approach at Royal Chain reflects a growing consumer preference for jewellery that is not only beautiful but also versatile, lightweight, durable and meaningful to everyday life. With a focus on accessible luxury and commercially relevant design, Royal Chain continues to create pieces that can evolve with the wearer—bridging everyday expression and occasion-led elegance while retaining a distinctive identity.

Ministry Of Good Souls: Reimagining 925 Sterling Silver For The Modern Era

In An Exclusive Conversation With JewelBuzz, Founder Anubhav Agrawal Shares How The Ministry Of Good Souls Is Redefining Sterling Silver Through Timeless Design, Artisanal Craftsmanship, and A Vision For Conscious Luxury.

Silver has long been woven into India’s cultural fabric, but its place in contemporary luxury is being redefined. Ministry of Good Souls (M.O.G.S.) is leading this transformation by elevating 925 sterling silver from an everyday metal to a statement of craftsmanship, individuality, and conscious design.

Backed by the legacy of DRS Gems and Jewels Private Limited, a jewellery house with over 35 years of expertise, the brand combines traditional silversmithing with contemporary aesthetics to create jewellery that resonates with today’s discerning consumer. Every piece reflects a balance of heritage and innovation, handcrafted by skilled artisans using both age-old techniques and modern technologies such as 3D casting.

In this exclusive conversation with JewelBuzz, Anubhav Agrawal, Founder of Ministry of Good Souls, discusses the inspiration behind the brand, his design philosophy, the evolution of M.O.G.S., and his vision for the future of luxury sterling silver in India.

JewelBuzz: What inspired you to step into the world of jewellery design, and how did your journey begin?

Anubhav Agrawal:
Jewellery has always been a part of my life. Growing up in a family with decades of expertise in gems and jewellery, I was surrounded by artisans, craftsmanship, and the stories behind every creation. While that legacy gave me a strong foundation, I wanted to build something that reflected a more contemporary vision.

That led to the birth of Ministry of Good Souls (M.O.G.S.)—a brand dedicated to positioning 925 sterling silver as a luxury category. My journey has been about blending India’s artisanal heritage with modern design to create jewellery that is timeless, expressive, and meant to be cherished across generations.

JewelBuzz: How would you describe your design philosophy?

Anubhav Agrawal:
We believe jewellery should be personal, not seasonal. Our philosophy centres on creating timeless, versatile pieces rooted in craftsmanship rather than trends.

Drawing inspiration from Indian art, architecture, textiles, and cultural heritage, we reinterpret traditional aesthetics through a contemporary lens. Every collection celebrates individuality while ensuring each design remains relevant for years to come.

JewelBuzz: What was the defining moment that transformed M.O.G.S. from a jewellery label into a recognised brand?

Anubhav Agrawal:
The real turning point came when we shifted our focus from simply creating jewellery to building a brand with a distinct identity and purpose.

We realised customers weren’t just buying jewellery—they were investing in authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful stories. By focusing on design, storytelling, customer experience, and creative collaborations, we built emotional connections that helped establish M.O.G.S. in the luxury silver jewellery space.

JewelBuzz: Which materials inspire you the most as a designer?

Anubhav Agrawal:
Our signature medium is 925 sterling silver because of its versatility and ability to showcase intricate craftsmanship.

We pair silver with natural gemstones, pearls, mother of pearl, kundan, and traditional techniques such as meenakari. Every material influences the story, texture, and character of the final piece, making each collection unique.

JewelBuzz: What is your vision for the future of India’s luxury jewellery market?

Anubhav Agrawal:
The Indian luxury jewellery market is evolving rapidly. Consumers today value authenticity, sustainability, craftsmanship, and meaningful design as much as precious materials.

I believe sterling silver will become an increasingly important part of the luxury segment. The future belongs to brands that preserve traditional craftsmanship while embracing innovation, exceptional design, and compelling storytelling.

With the Ministry of Good Souls, sterling silver is no longer viewed simply as an alternative to precious metals—it is emerging as a luxury category in its own right. By combining India’s rich artisanal traditions with contemporary aesthetics, Anubhav Agrawal is creating a jewellery brand that is expressive, timeless, and relevant for a new generation of consumers.

As preferences continue to evolve toward craftsmanship, conscious luxury, and meaningful design, brands like M.O.G.S. are proving that the future of fine jewellery is not defined solely by rarity, but by the stories it tells, the artistry it preserves, and the emotional connections it creates.
