Gold and Silver Prices In India See Sharp Surge
The Precious Metals Rally Coincided With A 1% Pull-Back In Crude Oil Prices. Spot Gold Surged 1% To Around $4,175 Per Ounce, While Spot Silver Climbed 2% To Near $60 Per Ounce.
Gold rates and silver rates in India surged sharply on Friday, October 9, tracking a broader recovery in international bullion markets as prices rebounded from two-month lows.
Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) rose nearly 1% in early trading, reclaiming the Rs 150,000 mark, while MCX silver contracts rallied over Rs 2,800 to trade near 224,000 rupees per kilogram.
Spot gold surged 1% to around $4,175 per ounce, while spot silver climbed 2% to near $60 per ounce.
The precious metals rally coincided with a 1% pull-back in crude oil prices. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude hovered near $91 per barrel, while global benchmark Brent crude traded around $104 per barrel.
Oil prices eased after U.S. President Donald Trump cited “productive discussions” with Iran, adding that the U.S. would refrain from strikes prior to the upcoming mid-term elections, despite recent reports of intensified attacks on commercial tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, benchmark U.S. 10-year Treasury yields held steady around 5.23%, remaining below 24-year highs following a well-received 30-year bond auction. The 30-year U.S. yield traded near 5.61%.
The U.S. dollar index slipped slightly but hovered near the 102 level. Financial markets currently price in an 82% probability that the U.S. Federal Reserve will hold interest rates steady at its October policy meeting, alongside an 81% likelihood of a rate increase in December. On Thursday, St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem signaled that further rate hikes over the next six to nine months may be warranted to steer inflation back toward the central bank’s 2% target.

To mark a milestone 18 years of growth, community, and service, CaratLane – a Tata Product, today announced an ambitious, nationwide celebration. On the occasion of CaratLane’s 18th Anniversary, team members across the organisation, all over the country, united virtually to achieve an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Most people cutting / slicing cake simultaneously online.
The record featured 467 cakes being sliced across 400+ locations, including retail stores, regional offices, and fulfilment centres (FCs). Connected live on a single, synchronised video conference, employees from every corner of the company joined together in real time to celebrate the brand’s 18th anniversary.
Saumen Bhaumik, Managing Director, CaratLane Said:

“Reaching 18 is a monumental moment, shaped entirely by the journey we’ve shared with our 3 Mn+ customers. We have nothing but our heartfelt gratitude for their continued goodwill.”
He added:“At the same time, everyone in our stores, in our factories, in our fulfilment centres, our business partners, our vendor partners not only contributed but also made this journey hugely exciting and absolutely memorable. There has never been a dull moment as we shaped the jewellery industry into a new age. Therefore, celebrating this special moment alongside our customers, employees, partners, vendors, well-wishers across 400+ locations will forever remain etched in our collective memories, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSâ„¢ title being the icing on the cake!”
To achieve the record, participants followed synchronised execution by following a loud, central start signal, each participant clearly displaying their commercially available cake to their camera and continuously cutting or slicing it for a minimum of 10 seconds. The activity was rigorously verified, ensuring every individual video feed across all 400+ screens was monitored and recorded to verify full compliance with all technical requirements. CaratLane also met the zero-food-waste commitment, in line with its core values, a pre-approved food distribution plan ensured that 100% of the cakes sliced during the attempt would be shared and consumed locally by teams and surrounding communities immediately following the event.
As CaratLane blew out the candles on 18 years of success, this world record served as both a festive tribute to the past and a dynamic launchpad for the future.
