World's Largest Gold Reserve Worth $83 Billion Discovered in China

A massive gold deposit valued at $83 billion has been discovered in Pingjiang County, central China, potentially making it the largest gold reserve ever found. The deposit is estimated to contain about 1,000 metric tons of high-quality ore, surpassing the South Deep mine in South Africa, which holds 900 metric tons.

The Geological Bureau of Hunan Province reported that 40 gold veins have been identified at depths of up to 2 kilometers, with preliminary assessments suggesting these veins could yield around 300 metric tons of gold. Advanced modeling points to even more reserves at greater depths, possibly extending to 3 kilometers.

This discovery is expected to significantly impact China’s already dominant gold industry, which contributes 10% of the world’s gold output. It has also led to a surge in gold prices as global demand for the precious metal rises.
