SRK achieves highest standards of sustainability with lowest carbon emissions

Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK), a global leader in natural diamond crafting and export, has made remarkable strides in its sustainability efforts, including achieving the lowest emissions in diamond crafting processes. SRK has achieved a 34% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per carat compared to the global industry average, as verified and validated by an independent third-party certification body. 


Renowned for its many industry firsts in diamond craftsmanship, sustainability, and philanthropic efforts, the billion-dollar revenue company with broader commitments in conjunction with United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) as far as United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (UNSDGs) are concerned. In May 2024, SRK was also recognized by being the world’s first company with Net-Zero Energy and LEED: Platinum Green buildings. Embracing a holistic "cradle-to-grave" approach, SRK ensures sustainability at every stage of the natural diamond lifecycle — from raw material extraction to the end-of-life phase. This comprehensive methodology makes SRK's environmental efforts both thorough and measurable.


The reduction in GHG emissions per carat of diamond, along with the verification across the entire diamond supply chain, has been validated by Deutsch Quality Systems (India) Private Limited, a renowned global ISO certification body known for its audits, assessments, and training services. This verification process fully complies with international standards, including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, ISO 14064, and ISO 14067.


As of November 2024, emissions per carat of SRK’s natural diamonds stood at 70.49 kgCO2e — a benchmark for the industry. Looking ahead, SRK aims to further reduce emissions by increasing its reliance on renewable energy, particularly solar power, across its crafting facilities. An update on this progress will be shared publicly soon.
