The Reserve Bank of India accumulated 24 tonnes of gold to its foreign exchange reserves coffers till Apr 24. This addition is significantly higher than the 16 tonnes added throughout 2023, as per the analysis of RBI data.
As of April 26, 2024, the RBI held 827.69 tonnes of gold as part of its foreign exchange reserves, an increase from 803.6 tonnes at the end of December. The increase in gold reserves is almost 1.5 times the volume added in the whole of 2023.
