Rio Tinto’s second Beyond Rare Tender, titled Colour Awakened, and achieved strong results, underscoring continued global demand for rare natural color diamonds. The collection, which included 76 diamonds in 48 lots, featured pink, red, and violet diamonds from the now-closed Argyle Diamond Mine, alongside white and yellow diamonds from the Diavik Diamond Mine in Canada. For the first time, it also showcased seven historic diamonds from Argyle.
The tender attracted 12 successful bidders from regions including Australia, Europe, Japan, and North America. Noteworthy purchases included a 4.04-carat white diamond and rare violet diamonds, acquired by Danish jeweller Hartmanns, who plans to create an heirloom piece with Argyle Pink Diamonds Icon Partner Glajz. Rio Tinto continues to manage the Argyle Pink Diamonds brand, maintaining strong interest in these highly collectible stones.
