Mumbai Customs unveils streamlined verification process for exporters

Mumbai Customs has introduced a streamlined verification process for exporters using the Precious Cargo Customs Clearance Centre (PCCCC) in a significant move to enhance ease of doing business. This new initiative, outlined in Public Notice No. 04/2024 dated 5th December 2024, addresses long-standing procedural redundancies.

Previously, exporters already verified at other ports had to undergo duplicate identity checks when using PCCCC for the first time. This duplication created unnecessary delays and inefficiencies. Now, with the withdrawal of Public Notice 08/2013, such exporters can proceed without additional compliance, ensuring smoother operations.

For first-time importers or exporters, identity verification under the 2021 Customs Regulations remains mandatory, with a 30-day window for document submission. The revamped framework reflects Mumbai Customs’ commitment to exporter-friendly policies.
