Jewellery, Gem & Technology Dubai Sees Surge in Global Visitors Attendance

Third Edition of B2B Jewellery Fair Attracts Top Buyers from 120 Countries and Regions

The third edition of Jewellery, Gem & Technology in Dubai (JGTD), held from 12 to 14 November 2024 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), marked a successful event with notable growth in both attendance and international participation. The fair attracted 4,925 unique visitors, with nearly half of them coming from overseas, representing 120 countries and regions. This year's edition saw a significant increase in international buyers, with Asia showing a 7.6% rise, and Europe and CIS countries (which include Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan) experiencing a combined growth of 29.3%. Additionally, there was an increase in participation from key GCC markets such as Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan.

The event featured buyer delegations from 29 countries, including China, Jordan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam, with 175+ companies represented. The rise in international visitors highlighted JGTD's role as a vital B2B sourcing destination and a global meeting point for the jewellery industry.

Exhibitors included more than 350 companies from 25+ countries and regions, spread across 16 distinct areas of the show floor. This included nine country and regional pavilions, with new participants from China, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the USA, alongside returning pavilions from Hong Kong, India, Italy, and Turkey. Additionally, the fair introduced two new thematic areas: the Dubai City of Gold Pavilion, organized by the Dubai Jewellery Group (DJG), and Dubai Jewel Narratives, curated by the Dubai Business Group for Gold & Jewellery Designers (DBGGJD). These pavilions complemented the main show sections dedicated to Finished/Semi-Finished Jewellery, Loose Diamonds & Coloured Gemstones, Packaging, Jewellery Technology, and Lab-Grown Diamonds.

JGTD played an essential role in strategic sourcing, with buyers and exhibitors recognizing the fair's timing in the fourth quarter, allowing buyers to plan for peak selling seasons and set the stage for 2025 business. Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery, noted that buyers were intentional about their sourcing, and the positive atmosphere at the event demonstrated the success of the show’s new dates and venue strategy.

Complementary events, such as Dubai Diamond Week hosted by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), also contributed to the event's success. The sixth edition of the Dubai Diamond Conference and the 2024 Kimberley Process Plenary Session were significant highlights. Additionally, the UAE-Italy Golden Bridge Awards, organized in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency and the Italian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, recognized 34 prominent buyers from Dubai’s Gold Souk, including 18 members of the Dubai Jewellery Group.

Seminars and panel discussions were well-attended, including the “Trendvision – WONDERLAND: Co-Creating the Future of Luxury and Jewellery” session by Paola De Luca, and the Middle East Jewellery Designers Forum, which hosted panels on “Emerging Jewellery Designers – Changing Paradigm” and “Advancements in Technology – Jewellery Designing.” The fair also celebrated design talent through the Ebdaa International Jewellery Design Awards 2024.

Exhibitors praised the event for offering a strategic platform for building connections with both local and international buyers. Enrico Guidi, Export Manager of Faro Srl (Italy), emphasized the event's importance for Dubai and surrounding regions, noting it as a key location to meet clients from Saudi Arabia, India, and other neighboring countries. Nilesh Chhabria, COO of Finestar Jewellery & Diamonds Pvt Ltd (India), highlighted the growing role of Dubai in the diamond industry, reinforcing the city's position as a key player in the global market.

The fair also saw the introduction of youthful 18-karat gold jewellery by Lisa O. (Italy), marking a successful opportunity for brand expansion. Similarly, Maria Psarrou from Arcadia Gems DMCC (UAE) shared that the show attracted buyers from India, the US, Europe, and other international markets, strengthening the global reach of the event.

Piero Speggiorin, Product Development & Export Manager of Maria De Toni Srl (Italy), summed up the event’s significance, emphasizing that Dubai is an essential international hub for the jewellery industry, acting as a gateway to the Middle East, the Americas, Europe, and the Far East. He expressed confidence in the show's future growth, particularly within the new Dubai Exhibition Centre.

The JGTD will return to Dubai for its fourth edition, scheduled for 11–13 November 2025, further solidifying its position as a key global jewellery sourcing event.
