A landmark auction unfolded at Christie’s Geneva, where the historic Aga Khan Emerald broke records, selling for an unprecedented CHF 7,765,000 (US$8,859,865). The 37-carat gemstone, once owned by British socialite Nina Dyer and tied to the Aga Khan lineage, surpassed previous records, having first appeared at a Christie’s sale 55 years ago.
This celebrated emerald, prized for its remarkable size, quality, and storied past, headlined the Magnificent Jewels auction, which brought in a total of CHF 47,940,450 (US$54.7 million). The sale also included rare Sassoon Cartier Art Deco pieces, including a 1935 diamond necklace that fetched CHF 4,461,500 (US$5.1 million).
